Risky Business: 25th Anniversary Edition (Warner Home Video)

When the great Judge Judy said the phrase 'keep it simple stupid' there was wisdom within, as this single but stellar 25th Anniversary Disc of the great Risky Business can attest to. Forgoing bells and whistles that make other sets simply big and bulky, Warner Bros. has added a mere four extras features here, but all are gems of pure Cruise gold. Included are a fascinating commentary track with both Director Paul Brickman (who keeps the honesty flowing - he hated the studio ending!) and his muse Cruise (who remains interesting and cohesive!), a look back doc with interviews with all involved (De Mornay still looks smoking hot!), a sizzling original screen test with a young Cruise and De Mornay at the peak of their powers and the best of the bunch, an alternate and much better ending that adds more depth and emotion to an already five star flick. I say fat DVD sets be damned - if Harvard represents the big and flashy multi-disc products, for my money it looks like the University of Illinois.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The serene picture of a family sitting near a fireplace and drinking hot chocolate and reading a book out loud is long gone. It is the warm glow of a television set that keeps the chills away on a cold night. Picture it: Dad is drinking a beer, mom is pouring herself a second glass of wine and the kids are either talking on their cell phone or smoking grandmother’s glaucoma medication.
Good story telling is now found on a screen rather than on a page. Blame the money-grubbing desperados of corporate America. Blame the architects that sought fit to construct a plastic pop star like Hannah Montana. Blame every American citizen who voted for President Bush. Blame the wrongdoer that invented the e-book and the adrenaline junkie who tasted the first cup of Starbucks Coffee, but do not blame Walt Disney Pictures. For once the dark forces behind the malevolent rodent have done something right for humanity—they created a film worthy of some attention.

Directed by Andrew Adamson, the same mastermind behind the first Narnia film, Prince Caspian is a picture that comes flawlessly together as if by magic.

The Pevensie family, Peter (William Moseley), Susan (Anna Popplewell), Edmond (Skander Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley), are transported back to Narnia for one more battle. With the help of a fugitive prince (Ben Barnes) and an army of fellow Narnians, they plot to defeat the evil king Miraz. One year has passed since the children ruled as kings and queens. The magical world they knew before has changed and the new sons of Adam called the Telmarines have inhabited Narnia.

The second installment of the Narnia films is one hour and 37 minutes of a great adventure. It has it all: blade-strutting mice, a dreamy prince, an evil king, four royal heroes and a divine lion. With over 1,500 special effects, the land of Narnia is extraordinarily more realistic. Author C.S. Lewis would be amazed. Better than the first, Prince Caspian is a film that is sure to become a classic for Walt Disney Pictures.

May 2010: The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the next film from the book series to reach theaters. It is just enough time for the whole family to gather together to read the book—just make sure that the television is set on mute.

Watch DVD Movies for Free

There are many ways to watch DVD movies for free online. Gone are the days when you need to make a trip to your DVD store to buy or rent DVDs. Today, with the internet, you can watch online movies for free easily with a few clicks of the mouse button and never have to step out of the house to buy DVD movies.

One way to watch DVD movies is to rent DVD from online movies sites such as the Amazon Unbox and CinemaNow. These sites allows you to rent or download full length DVD movies for a fee per movie. The cost varies but usually is between $2.99 to $29.99 depending on how new the movie is.

Another alternative is go to video sharing websites such as Youtube and Dailymotion. Some TV show networks actually broadcast their TV show episodes on Youtube. However, the problem is that the video quality isn’t DVD quality on Youtube and there aren’t many such TV shows available as well.

The third way is to download movies from P2P networks. P2P stands for Peer to Peer technology and it allows millions of users around the world to share and download files. You need a P2P software such as bittorrent to download files from P2P networks.

There are some risks with using P2P. One is viruses and spyware. P2P are largely unmoderated and there are many viruses and spyware. If you accidentally download one to your computer, it can damage your computer.

Also, the download speed varies and in general, it is quite slow. You may also encountered a lot of incomplete files download or corrupted file downloads as well.

The last alternative is to join a paid DVD movie download membership site. These DVD movie download sites allows you to download unlimited DVD movies for a one time fee. The advantage is there are no spyware and viruses on these sites.

The files are neatly categorized and so far, I have not encountered any incomplete or corrupted file downloads. The download speeds are also pretty fast. The movie downloads are DVD quality as well.
